"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial 'outside agitator' idea." MLK

(2022 - 2023) The heiress to the Disney empire asked workers: How many of you know a coworker who needs food stamps? How many have coworkers who need to sleep in their cars? How many know coworkers who went without medical care because they cannot afford it? Watch the video here.
A union organized to:
provide a food pantry for workers who were still struggling to survive, especially when they are out on medical leave
index hourly wages to the cost-of-living so that workers can increase family time, rather than working multiple jobs to make ends meet

(2018) Marriott union workers achieved:
Panic buttons to improve worker safety when alone
Lifetime bans on guests who sexually harass workers (Jomar: such a basic aspect of safety and human dignity - incredible that unionized action was needed to get this and during a time of record corporate earnings!)
Better pregnancy accommodations
Four (4) dollar increase to the hourly wage
Pensions based on years with the company
Improved scheduling of work hours and shifts

Any form of progress (unionizing, academics, athletic performance) will always involve the risk of failure and its sibling, fear. The decision to join a union must always be a personal choice: a balancing between the burden of low wages & a toxic work environment and the fear of retaliation.
Union WOLF guards against retaliation by keeping its members and supporters confidential until a secret ballot election is won. Further, we stand ready to litigate unfair labor practice claims when appropriate. "Without struggle, there is no progress." Frederick Douglass (1857).
(2025 Remember the Rev. Dr. MLK) The evening before his assassination, Dr. King felt that he may not see the Promised Land, but he envisioned a time when the pay and job conditions of frontline, trench workers are justly and righteously commensurate with dignity and worth.
Manager Secretly Supports a Union for Healthcare Workers
(2024 May 5) Great article by Harry Severance, M.D. and his interview with a hospital administrator who was pro-union because:
healthcare had become the most unsafe job site in America;
corporate is detached from work realities and hyper-focused on profits; and
in a Suits v. Scrub environment, a union of scrubs can collectively contract for safety and patient ratios.
(2024 April 28) Highlights sound familiar?
4:45 It gets to a point when we unionize, and then the company says, "No, we'll fix things. Here's some barbecue. Please don't vote."
8:35 Across the nation, people like myself, work for multibillion dollar corporations but are barely able to afford groceries. I have one of the best jobs in the area and I have a wife and kids and I am drowning in medical debt.
10:18 Many employees work full-time but still have to rely on government subsidies, which means our tax dollars excuse billion dollar corporations from paying livable wages.
11:30 Unions stand up to corporate greed and say "this is wrong." There's always a push for human rights and for common, decent people to get a fair shake.
(2024 April 20) Do you monitor and provide psychiatric support to patients? Check out this snippet from the Bureau of Labor! The DC metro area pays psychiatric techs an hourly mean of $27.97. Are you being paid fair market wages? Join Union Wolf and support our advocacy for fair pay and safe working conditions!
